Frizzy Hair Has Met Its Match With Brazilian Keratin Treatments

I have been in the business of hair for over 30 years. As a hair designer, I’ve made it my business to cut, sculpt, blow dry, shave, color and perm my clients’ locks into stylish, shiny, and magnificent-looking hair designs day in and day out. In 30 years time, you learn a few things and you certainly see a lot of things. One of the biggest problems with hair that I have witnessed, is frizz. I have watched clients battle frizz all their lives and I myself have worked to fight frizzy hair through the years as well.

Frustrations with Frizz:

Frizzy hair might be one of the most frustrating hair care issues I have seen clients and colleagues deal with in this business. People who most often fall victim to frizz are normally those with curly or wavy hair. However, there are a number of causes of frizzy hair that most people don’t even realize….

Genetics. You can blame mom, dad or even your great-grandma for this one. Sometimes, people are just born with naturally frizzy hair thanks to a little something called DNA.

Water, Water, Water.
The same rule that goes for skin and nails, applies to your hair. Without moisture, hair becomes dry and susceptible to breakage, which also causes frizz.

Lack of Protein.
Similar to moisture, hair that lacks protein is susceptible to breakage, which is sure to cause frizz.

Too Much of Anything.
Too much coloring, bleaching, blow-drying, brushing or hair product application will lead to hair damage and frizziness over time.

With so much going against us in the fight for sleek, shiny, straight hair, where should we look for a solution to frizz control that actually works? The answer, is the Brazilian Keratin Treatment.

Winning the War on Frizz

Brazilian Keratin Treatments have become the hottest ticket to straight, frizz-free hair for everyone, from celebs to the women of main street. A Brazilian Keratin treatment is a revolutionary new process that smooths, softens and restores the health and shine back into your hair with a single salon visit.

The underlying ingredients in the Brazilian Keratin Treatment are protein and keratin, which are essentially the building blocks of the hair follicle. These components are necessary for strong, healthy and shiny hair.

The Brazilian Keratin Treatment is based on the natural protein of keratin, which makes it suitable for all types of hair, from curly and wavy, to chemically-treated or damaged. The treatment works as a result of a keratin layer that is formed over the hair, leaving it soft, silky and glossy for up to 12 weeks.

Unfortunately, curly hair naturally lacks protein and keratin. This is why the Keratin treatment is an excellent one for women with curly hair or super wavy locks. The goal of the Brazilian Keratin is to infuse hair with these essential proteins to defrizz, smooth, and make it easier to style – but without permanently altering the hair’s curl structure, like a relaxer would.

The Defrizzing Process: A Step by Step Look at the Brazilian Keratin Treatment

1. Step one in the Brazilian Keratin Smoothing Treatment is to shampoo the hair with the Brazilian Gloss pre-treatment shampoo. This specially formulated shampoo removes any residual accumulation of oil and environmental buildup from the hair; leaving it clean, natural and in an optimal state for the rest of the treatment.

2. Next, the certified Brazilian Kertin Treatment stylist will towel-dry the hair and begin dividing it into sections. The stylist will then apply the Brazilian Keratin Smoothing Gloss by dabbing the product onto each section of hair and then combing it into the full length of the hair.

The Keratin Smoothing gloss is enriched with panthenol and keratin. The gloss actually becomes bonded to the hair shaft through this process, and is the main component of the Brazilian Keratin Hair procedure. The Keratin Smoothing Gloss fills in damaged areas of the hair with keratin and forms a protective layer which acts to smooth and flatten the cuticle, resulting in the elimination of frizz.

3. During the third step, the stylist will thoroughly blow dry the hair, with tension, and then once again divide it into sections. Next, a flat iron will be applied to each section of the hair to further straighten, smooth and lock in the keratin bond to the hair shaft.

4. The stylist will then rinse the hair. Next, the Brazilian Gloss After-Treatment Masque will be massaged throughout the hair to help with the smoothing and restructuring of the hair shaft. The hair is then rinsed and towel-dried once again.

5. The fifth and final step is optional. The stylist may apply the Brazilian Gloss Daily Glossing Serum to assist in sealing the cuticle. The stylist can then blow dry and style the hair as desired by the client. In just 90 minutes, your left with smooth, frizz-free, shiny hair that will last for a solid 12 weeks.

Keep in mind that there are currently a few specialty types of the Brazilian Kertin treatments available as well. These range from the Vegan treatment, which is 100% natural. The Vegan Keratin treatment may be used on children and nursing or expectant mothers. There is also the Natural Brazilian Keratin Treatment, which has no formaldehyde and the Boosted Keratin, which has under the allowable 3% that is required. The boosted Keratin Treatment we use at D’Agostino hair has 1.39 0f the allowable 3%.

There you have it.  The rundown on how people are finally fighting frizz today!

Signed,

Formerly Frizzy and Loving it

Straight Talk About Curly Hair – 10 Commandments of Curls

Do you want touchable, shiny curls with no frizz? No problem! All you have to do is follow these 10 commandments of curls.  Transform your curly hair into the curls you have always wanted. If you have curly hair you know your curls beg for understanding and forgiveness for all the abuse it has endured over the years. You also know there are pros and cons to having curly hair. The pros include body and not having to wash your hair everyday. The cons include and Puffy Hair Syndrome, which tends to happen in high humidity.  Like many beauty regimens, the results vary from person to person, but these ten commandments of curls are sure to work for you! So, say good-bye to the frizz and split ends and hello to soft healthy curls.

Commandment 1: Thou Shalt Not Fight Your Natural Curl

Love your curls! Don’t Fight them. understand them. Embrace them. Curly hair tends to be dry and therefore vulnerable to humid air — it simply wants to soak up moisture. This causes cuticles to expand, which causes frizz. The secret to keeping frizz at bay involves a few products and regiments: deep condition once a week. Apply a leave-in conditioner to ends after a shower. Apply products to wet hair to lock in as much moisture as possible. Be sure to use a microfiber towel to take out moisture, this will prevent frizz.

Commandment 2: Thou Shall Have Moisturize

It can not be emphasized enough the importance to using the right deep conditioners and oil treatments on your naturally curly hair. Curls need moisture. Curls are most defined with minimal frizz when they are moisturized. As far as the maintenance, I recommend shampooing your hair at most 3 times per week. When doing so, shampoo your hair with a moisture-intensive shampoo (probably sulfate-free as it a gentle cleanser), and follow with a moisturizing conditioner.

Commandment 3: Thou Shalt Not Use a Brush

A comb is your best friend, a brush is not. Combing hair is great, because it ensures you’re coating locks with that deep conditioner or or  leave in conditioner. Always comb hair wet with conditioner in it while in the shower

Commandment 4:Thou Shalt Not  Cut Curls Wet

Advantages to cutting your curls dry:

  • Prevents post cut shrinkage
  • Allows curls to assume natural shape
  • Easier to sculpt and create shapes

Commandment 5: Thou Shall Have Moisturize

It can not be emphasized enough the importance to using the right deep conditioners and oil treatments on your naturally curly hair. Curls need moisture. Curls are most defined with minimal frizz when they are moisturized. As far as the maintenance, I recommend shampooing your hair at most 3 times per week. When doing so, shampoo your hair with a moisture-intensive shampoo (probably sulfate-free as it a gentle cleanser), and follow with a moisturizing conditioner.

Commandment 6:  Thou Shall not use Products With Silicones, Alcohol and Mineral Oils

Curly hair is unmanageable when it is constantly abused day in and day out with drying hair products. The best thing your curls is to use essential oils. The best natural oils include coconut oil, Shea butter, almond oil, flaxseed oil, jojoba oils and olive oil.

Commandment 7: Thou Shall section

To ensure full coverage of hair products section hair with plastic slips. Work section by section to evenly distribute product applying from the roots all the way to the ends. Once you’re sure that section is saturated, you can move on to the next sections.

Commandment 8: Thou Shall  Apply Products to Wet Curls

Your Curly hair should be as wet as possible when you begin the Styling process. After shampooing and conditioning, do not towel dry. Applying products on curls while they are wet, this helps prevent Clumping and keeps in moisture. After products are applied in a Scrunching motion use a micro fiber towel or cotton T-shirt to remove excess water.

Commandment 9:  Thou Shall Use The Best Curly Hair Products

There’s a good reason brands like Deva Curl, Mixed Chicks, and Ouida are so popular among people seeking  gorgeous curls.  These products are designed to work with curly hair of all textures. You’ll get much better results with a  better quality product  than you will from a cheap drugstore brand. Over the counter products will leave your curls dry, frizzy, crunchy, and parched.

Commandment 10: Thou Shall not Run Fingers Through Hair

Once your hair products are in and Your hair is in the drying process. Leave it alone!  This means no combing and no brushing; no touching! If you touch your hair too much while it is setting into its natural curl you will have one big ball of frizz!

Ok, so maybe you’ve abused your curls over the years, trying to mold, Straighten it, drown it in products, but now that abuse comes to an end! When you decide to give your curly hair the understanding it Screams for you will be rewarded with head-turning, breath-taking, Beautiful Curls. How did these commandments help you with your curls? Do you have any tricks of the trade of Curls?
